Keep it in the Closet

One of my goals for next year is to move into a nicer apartment.  After roughing it in my tiny one bedroom for almost two years, there is only so much more I can take.  In addition to purging my storage unit and apartment of all the crap I know I don't like or need, I am constantly scoping out ideas for how to make my next space super organized.  My number one wish for my next home is to have one of those custom closets.

Walmart John Louis Inc. 12" Deep Premier Closet Organizer 419.99

 Ikea Stolmen 3 Sections 560.00
The Ikea one is not my absolute favorite, but I love that it is adjustable to that you can make full use of the wall from floor to ceiling.  That is something you always have to think about in Manhattan. These options would only house 1/3 of my clothing needs and the goal is for me to see all of my clothing so that I can make use of it all.  Only a man would have this little clothing.

The Best French Macaron Ever

Today my coworkers and I took a field trip to Bouchon Bakery.  Typically I cannot stand to mix my sweet and savory.  One of the rare exceptions is Peanut Butter and Jelly.  This is my favorite macaron of all time.  I could eat 10.  Maybe it's a good thing that they are $3.50 a piece.

Bocado Cafe

My friend texted me last Saturday night to inform me that my favorite Thai place in the city closed.  This was devastating news for me.  But on the bright side . . . the sub-par Italian eatery that long sat on the corner a block from my church closed.  Recently Bocado Cafe opened up there and it's a total 180.  They may have some of the best french toast I've ever tasted.  Caramel pear syrup is nothing I would have thought of on my own, but it is amazingly delicious.  I've already gone twice.  Most of my favorite spots are south of 14th street so it's great to find something delicious on the UES.   Hooray for a relaxing summer.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the reason is not because . . .  The reason is that . . .

Confession Time

I'm a hoarder.  I'm terrified of throwing away old receipts or perfectly good clothes even though they're way to big for me.  I have two bins of clothes stashed away in case I ever return to my normal weight.  In the past I've tried the one in, one out rule and it really doesn't work for me.  I don't know what came over me last week but I just decided I have to stop.  I started throwing out old receipts and documents that I know I'll never need, recycled some magazines, and donated 4 vases my ex gave me.

Two summers ago I moved four times over the course of four months.  It took such a toll on my body that I would absolutely love to be one of those minimalists who has it paired down to just the necessities.  In Manhattan, it's essential to a calm apartment.  So my goal for the summer is to pair down and make my next move an easy one.

Splurge

Stuart Weitzman Espadrilles - Alex Swamp Crochet
All I wanted to do was try on the wedges I put on my wish list yesterday.  I saw a picture of Kate Middleton wearing the Stuart Weitman Minx wedges and thought the corkscrew heel was brilliant for walking through grass.  I tried them on but I liked the crochet style better on me.  Fortunately, they were on sale and I had a couple gift cards so I really didn't spend too much.  I used to hate wedges but I am coming around quickly.
